LAKEWOOD COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION, INC.
NEWSLETTER
October, 2010

KIDS CORNER: Our neighborhood is filled with little ones riding bikes. Many of them are just learning. It is a blessing to know our children feel safe riding in this neighborhood. Please be aware of these young people, especially after school and on weekends. Slow down an extra five miles an hour, and stop at all stop signs. It only takes a few seconds more. You never know what could be around the corner.
TO ALL OUR CHILDREN: PLEASE WEAR YOUR BIKE HELMETS, AND REMEMBER TO OBEY ALL BIKING RULES.

HALLOWEEN will be celebrated on Sunday, October 31st. If you do not wish to have the children stop at your home for candy, we would suggest leaving your porch lights off. Everyone else, please make sure your yard is lighted and all obstacles (except goblins and ghosts) are out of the children’s paths so they do not trip and fall.
As has been our custom in the past, we have hired two county Sheriffs with marked cars. They will patrol the neighborhood from 6:00 P.M. to 11:00 PM. If you have any trouble that evening, please call 911, and they will dispatch the officer in the neighborhood. The gates will remain open that evening until 10:00 P.M.

REMINDER: All residents should have a functioning light in their front yards. The lights are to come on at dusk and go off at daylight. Since we have no street lights, the yard lights are extremely important and serve to deter neighborhood crime.

FALL CLEAN UP: The oak leaves and acorns are beginning to fall. These leaves and acorns deteriorate the roads, so please keep curbs and street drains in front of your home free of such debris. To preserve and maintain the appearance of our neighborhood, please don’t forget to clean your gutters and remove the summer mildew from your houses. Those of you who have already done this, thank you. We appreciate the effort you make to support and enhance the value of our community.

TIME CHANGE: Reminder: Set your clocks back one hour on Sunday, November 7.
